George W. "Skip" Rice
Rice, George W. "Skip",85, passed away Wednesday at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a native of New Albany and a retired shop mechanic for E.I. DuPont Nemours. He was a Navy and Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Hobart Beach Post #1693, VFW and the Bonnie Sloan Post #28 American Legion. He was a member of the New Albany Lodge #39 F.&A.M. and the Tri -County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret D. (Hardin) Rice; one sib, John C. "Butch" Rice, Jr. (Judith) of New Albany, IN; four daughters, Judith R. McAfee (Bob) of Greenwood, IN,Lois M. Moore (Ray) of Greenwood, IN, Rhonda K. Thrasher of New Albany, IN, Georgann Messer (Jack) of New Albany, IN; one brother, Leonard Rice of New Albany, IN; two sisters, Marilyn Million of Floyds Knobs, IN and Laverne Lenfert of Jeffersonville, IN; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Market Street Chapel / Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, 1119 East Market Street, New Albany, IN. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the Market Street Chapel / Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes. Interment will be in SCI Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, IN.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kosair Children's Hospital.
New Albany Lodge #39 F.&.A. M. will conduct a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
