Roy Hunter Potts Jr.
Potts , Roy Hunter Jr., 91, of Louisville passed away on Wednesday March 9, 2016.
Roy was a manual H.S. grad and later graduated from RP. He served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from Rose Polytechnic Inst. of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Theta XI Fraternity. He worked for the DuPont Co. and was assigned to the Atomic Energy at Oakridge, Tenn. And then on the construction of the Savanah River Plant in Georgia and South Carolina; where he was instrumental in the fabrication and installation of the heavy water reactors. He later moved to the DuPont Neoprene Plant in Louisville. Where he retired in 1982 with 35 years service.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a past member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Vestry Member. Member of Hurstbourne Country Club, Big Spring Country Club, The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, KY and Vanderbilt County Club in Naples, Florida and the former River Road Country Club.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife; Betty Kleinstarink Sloan; a son Roy Hunter Potts III and his wife Pam of Dallas, TX. Scott Sloan and his wife Helen of San Diego, Ca. and Sherry Baird and her husband Calvin Jr. of Simpsonville, KY; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Pearson's is in charge of arrangements.
