Lawrence C. Otto (1930 - 2018)
Lawrence C. Otto, of Louisville, died at his home in Treyton Oak Towers on January 26, 2018. He was born in Salem, NJ in 1930. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he married Nancy Fontaine Otto in Charleston, W.V. They were married 66 years.
Larry was a chemical engineer and worked for DuPont until taking early retirement. He then dedicated his time to volunteer efforts in the community and his church.
In the 1980's, Larry was instrumental in founding the St. John Center and the Coalition for the Homeless. He actively supported low-cost housing and peacemaking efforts. Gardening, do-it-yourselfing, and the Detroit Tigers were passions that live on in his children.
Family include daughters Laura Livingood (Matt); Anne Walker; Nancy Otto (Bill Russell); son Fred (Kathy); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Numerous others consider Larry as family in their hearts.
Memorial services will be held in the near future at Christ Church Cathedral and at Treyton Oak Towers. In memory of Larry, contributions may be made to St. John Center for the Homeless, 700 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, 40202 or Christ Church Cathedral, 421 S. 2nd St., Louisville, 40202.
