Lawrence Henry Oechsli
Oechsli, Lawrence Henry, 87, was born into eternal life on Friday, September 11, 2015.
He was a retired machinist from DuPont, a member of the senior clubs at St. Peter the Apostle and Incarnation parishes; the Gruetli Helvetia Society, a pinochle club, an officer of the Louisville Baseball Veterans Assoc. and the founder of an annual family/friend event: the Derby Eve Golf Outing, held for over 30 years; and an avid Cardinal fan.
Larry (Pa) was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louis V. Oechsli and Elizabeth Scheser; a brother Louis; a sister, Mildred.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the love of his life, Mary Catherine (Mary Kay) Tichy; 5 children, Catherine Blandford, Cheryl Matthews (Dick), Janet Hilliard (Jerry), Jerry Oechsli (Teresa) and Mark Oechsli (Linda); 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward, Gilbert, Bernard Oechsli; sisters, Catherine Bowron and Mary Shacklette; brothers-in-law, George and Bob Tichy.
Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway from 1:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15, rosary at 3:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 16, at his church, St. Peter the Apostle, 5431 Johnsontown Road, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or St. Peter the Apostle building fund.
