NEW ALBANY, MARKLAND, THOMAS, 90, formerly of Georgetown, IN, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Lincoln Hills Health Center in New Albany.
He was a lab tech at Dupont Industries, Louisville and a member of Tunnel Hill Christian Church and the Silvertoners. He was a Pekin native, attended Pekin High School, married Rubie Mae (Simpson) October 15, 1937 and opened a restaurant in 1940 in Fredericksburg, IN. They moved to New Albany in 1945 and in 1949, to the farm on Ed-Galena Road. He loved to fish, camp, travel, sing and socialize. Rubie Mae preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline (William) Markland, New Albany; two sons, Roylee and Norman; two daughters, Arlene and Connie; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, with burial in Horner Chapel Cemetery. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
