Irvin Kircher

KIRCHER, Irvin Leo, "Ike", 95 of Louisville, passed away January 4, 2014.

He was born April 24, 1918 to George Conrad "Paup" Kircher and Mary Amelia "Mamie" Schlatter of Louisville. He was the last surviving sibling of 10 brothers and sisters.

He attended St. Joseph's School and Ahrens Trade School. He enjoyed boating, bowling, golf and poker. He especially enjoyed vacationing at the beach and his family. He married Miriam Jeannette McDowell on August 16, 1940 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Louisville. He briefly worked for Oertel's Brewery before joining DuPont. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. after returning from the Army, he resumed his job at DuPont from which he retired. He is survived by his wife, Miriam McDowell Kircher; his three children, Sharle Chiles, Irvin "Mac" (Diana), Robert (Terri): six grandchildren: 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

His funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 508 Breckenridge lane with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 - 8 PM at Pearson's 149 Breckenridge Lane. Memorial Gifts may be sent to St. Joseph's Orphanage or the American Red Cross.
