Bruce Henderson Kinloch
Kinloch, Bruce Henderson 93, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 and was reunited with his loving wife, Ellen Huber Kinloch "Ellie" of 59 years.
He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, son of the late Donald and Ruth Henderson Kinloch. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Lois K. Baron.
Bruce grew up in Parlin, New Jersey and attended high school at George School in Pennsylvania, and went on to graduate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where he started the school's Golf Club. He retired as an engineer from E.I. DuPont after 32 years of service.
Bruce was a charter member of Hunting Creek Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He served on the Board of Directors for Dare to Care and the Presbyterian Homes and Services of KY. Bruce enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels as well as the countless hours he gave to his church, Harvey Browne Presbyterian, where he was a member for over 60 years. Bruce was a very compassionate and generous person, and much of his time and talents were dedicated to the many causes he believed in and supported. His passion besides golf was his beloved U of L Cardinals which he supported since 1950, when he moved to Louisville.
Bruce was a warm-hearted and loving father to his two children, David Brown Kinloch (Cindy) and June K. Lavelle (Paul). He was known as "Pops" by his grandchildren, Tim Lavelle (Kathryn), Abby Lavelle Staffieri (Alex), Chad Lavelle, Lydia Kinloch, Amos Kinloch; and three great-grand children, Mack, Ellie and Charlie. He is also survived by his eight nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church, 311 Browns Lane, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. Friday at Ratterman Funeral Home in St. Matthews, 3711 Lexington Rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church or Dare to Care.
