Carl B. Huckelberry
HUCKELBERRY, CARL B. 91, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Westminster Village in Clarksville.
Carl was born January 31, 1918, in Clark County, IN, to the late Harry and Kate (Smallwood) Huckelberry. He was a retired carpenter with E.I. Dupont for 30 years and an army veteran of World War II. Carl was a talented cabinet maker who built much of his own furniture. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church in Jeffersonville, American Legion Post #105 of Henryville, and the Kentuckiana Square Dance Association.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Huckelberry who was lost at sea on the USS Scorpion in May of 1968. He also was preceded in death by his brother Harry Huckelberry and sister-in-law Ella Huckelberry.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary L. (McDowell) Huckelberry ; daughter, Donna Neal (Doug); sister, Myrtle Collins (Gene); brother-in-law, Joe McDowell; granddaughters, Carla White (John), Paula Glover (David); three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, and Allyssa.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Kraft Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Noah's Ark or Eastside Christian Church.
