Lawrence E. "Buddy Larry" Haming
HAMING, LAWRENCE E. "BUDDY," "LARRY," 82, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Joseph and Kathryn Haming; his sisters, Catherine Jurige, Betty Martin and Mary T. "Boots" Hettel; and infant son, Gerard.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Konermann Haming; one sister, Helen Fleming; five sons and two daughters, Joseph B., Lisa Heck (Dan), George (Linda), John (Wanda), Stephen Gerard of Frankfurt, Germany, Philip F. (Dina) and Kate Flynn (Patrick); and 11 grandchildren, Jimmy, Betsy, and Emily Heck, Eric and Nicholas Haming, Conrad, Serena, Malcomb, Sawyer, and Juliette Haming, Samuel Flynn; and one great-grandson, Casper Heck.
After growing up in the St. Philip Neri parish, he was a founding member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Larry retired from the Dupont Chemical Company after 36 years of service as a chemical operator and went on to work as a driver for the Funeral Auto Company. Buddy was a 1946 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a member of the 1945 Kentucky State Championship baseball team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an avid reader, storyteller, letter writer, horse-racing fan, and historian. Above all, Lawrence Haming was a gentleman who lived to serve God, his family, and the less fortunate.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi, 1960 Bardstown Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Friday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
