Lester Lee "Mike" Duncan
Duncan, Lester Lee "Mike" passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014.
Mike was born on April 22, 1922 in Elizabeth, IN to the late Leona Hollis and Joseph Stephens Duncan.
Mike was retired from the E.I. DuPont Company. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a founding member of American Legion Post 379 in Elizabeth. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite. He pursued his strong religious faith as an active member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ where he served the church in many capacities since becoming a member in 1963.
Mike had a long, happy, and productive life. He pursued numerous hobbies including golfing, gardening, and photography. He was a member of the Kentucky Photographic Society and the Kentucky Natural History Society. Many of his nature photographs were award winners, and many couples have beautiful wedding albums to cherish thanks to his work and expertise.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he delighted in spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Hildebrand Duncan. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sally Bingham and her husband Don, his two grandsons, John Bryant Applegate and Michael Grant Bingham, along with his great granddaughters, Alexis and Caitlyn Applegate. He was dearly loved, and he will be forever missed.
A funeral service celebrating Mike's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville (1119 E. Market St.) with entombment in Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday before the service.
