Raymond Richard Bumann
BUMANN, RAYMOND RICHARD, 90, of Louisville, passed away Sunday April 14, 2013 at Baptist Health Louisville.
He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, where he was also a Golden Key Club member, a member of the Better Breathers Club and the Jeffersontown Senior Citizens Center.
Ray was a World War II veteran. He joined the Navy in 1942 as a Motor Machinist Manta First Class. Ray was proud to serve his country in historic events such as the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Ray worked at DuPont Chemical Company as a mechanical power operator. He continued to support American Legion Dixie Post 220 in which he served as a Post Commander and District Commander.
Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lucille Higgins Bumann, whom he was married to for 54 years; his parents, Edward and Mary; and brothers, Edison, Norbert and Cletus.
Ray is survived by his sons, Richard Bumann (Jennifer), Tom Bumann and Tim Bumann (Shaun); daughters, Terri Vassie, Janice Bumann, Donna Barrett (Tom), Diane Glynn (Mark) and Cathy Foreman (Larry); 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Baptist Health Louisville and Glen Ridge Health Campus for their kindness and services extended to Ray.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
